Has it ever occurred to you, the decisions made by executives at Microsof? Well, I have. I do not understand, and never stopped feeling amazed to these people. This week Microsot entering the portable MP3 player market and this news makes fire in the Blogosphere. One scholar or other claims that the new Microsoft Zune will be the main iPod killer. On the other hand, there are a few of us have serious doubts about Microsoft’s ability to penetrate the market is already saturated with their competitors’ products. An expert or other claims that Microsoft’s new Zune will be the main iPod killer.
But few of us have serious doubts about the ability of Microsoft to penetrate the market already flooded with their competitors’ products. We, can not help, ask questions, why Microsoft waited so far. Other companies, Apple has been dabbling in this market for many years. And they have dozens of other companies in the consumer electronics industry.
Too little and too late for Microsoft, to start in this business. What they’ve done so far, is running the logic of the approach to wait and see. However, this is a sad thing. We are constantly surprised about the lack of initiative Microsof in a particular market space, although they have the intellectual resources and a large working capital. Whether Microsof honestly think, that they have the opportunity to penetrate markets which have been clearly dominated by Apple? With a limited marketing budget? For all the voices who disagree out there, we realize that the Zune project consists of a number of strategic initiatives for Microsoft. Yes, the MP3 player is just one element of a larger corporate strategy in this business. Honestly, we all expect, Microsoft has the good fortune in this industry.
We hope, that Microsof will release the product, which will provide motivation for Apple to develop a generation of their mobile gadgets. AppleBerry, anyone? In this industry, competition to control innovation. Microsoft certainly is a formidable opponent in innovation. But if they ever really innovating? Time will tell. Unless, of course, Bill found a way to play time. It will be very innovative. And you, who know the first time, here.
