One of the easiest ways to be prepared in the event of a weather emergency is to assess your insurance policies to make sure you are covered. Some policies do not include flooding unless you specifically request it. Make sure all your structures are insured in the event of a large snow storm that could bring the roof down if you live in areas where that is a possibility.

Know where everyone should be in that event and what the safest places are in your building. Hurricane parties may seem like a fun idea for a beach house full of risk seekers, but it’s a bad idea for a business. When the call comes to board up the windows and get out of town, remember to take important papers with you to show you own a business there so you can get back to check on it later. Be safe first and protect your investments with a little careful planning.
